about the artist :: about raku I have been working with clay for over 30 years, and I love it. The longer I work with clay the more I want to. Clay is infinitely engaging, both in the process of making and in the appreciation of finished works. My work includes both sculptural and functional pieces. I work on the wheel and also do hand building; much of my work is a combination of the two. Over the past fifteen years, I have been Raku firing most of my work. A number of years ago I started to do low fire electric also in order to get the true, brilliant colors that are possible only this way. Because I teach art, my work is continually influenced by pottery from other cultures and times and from the work of students. My work is in a continual state of evolution, so check back to see what comes next. -- Pamela Sinclair-Nixon -- |
